ABOUT THE CLUB
Portland Old Boys Football Club were formed in 1956 and play in the Bristol Downs League in England. In the last fifty years honours have been limited with a third division championship in the 1978-79 season the highlight. However the last few seasons have been more successful. Portland won the All Saints Cup in the 1997-98 season and that was followed with clinching the Division Three championship the following year. The improvement continued in 2000-01 when Portland finished runners up in Division Two to claim a place in the first division for the first time in their history. In 2002 Portland formed a reserve team and they climbed up to the second division in just four years.
The season 2005-06 marked the 50th anniversary celebrations for Portland Old Boys Football Club and the first team again enjoyed another successful season, finishing fourth in Division One and securing qualification for the GFA Senior Amateur Cup in 2006-07 in which they reached the semi finals. The first team also won the BBC Charity Cup for the first time in 2005. In 2006-07 the first team also reached the Norman Hardy Cup Final for the first time. The first team is now managed by Ben Golledge and the reserve team by Joe Lydiard.
